Primary Purpose:
Provide students in 7th grade with a rigorous, engaging science education that develops their scientific knowledge, inquiry skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and Sheldon ISD curriculum standards.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate 48 Science or 48 Generalist certification (or eligibility)
Strong knowledge of middle school science content and effective instructional practices
ESL certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred
Responsibilities:
Plan, deliver, and assess instruction based on the district curriculum and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) for Science.
Develop engaging, hands-on lessons and laboratory activities that promote scientific inquiry and understanding.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including English Learners (ELs) and students receiving special education services.
Integrate technology and real-world applications into daily lessons to enhance student learning and engagement.
Administer and analyze formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and guide instruction.
Prepare students for success on district benchmarks, the STAAR assessment, and future science coursework.
Maintain a safe, organized, and positive classroom environment conducive to learning and collaboration.
Build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to support student success.
Participate in campus and district professional development, curriculum planning, and team meetings.
Uphold all policies, procedures, and expectations outlined by Sheldon ISD, campus administration, and state/federal regulations.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting instructional materials and science lab equipment, and assisting students as needed during experiments and hands-on activities.
Salary commensurate with experience
Starting Salary $66,000
Works 187 Day Calendar
