Position Summary
The Safety Technician I - Animal Control is responsible for managing and supporting animal control program activities to ensure workforce safety and compliance with applicable laws and company policies. This position plays a key role in maintaining safe working conditions in a production environment by responding to animal-related incidents and supporting industrial safety initiatives in accordance with OSHA and state regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
• Animal Control Program: Manage animal control program activities to ensure safety of personnel and facilities. • Maintain compliance with applicable laws permits and regulations, including free-roaming cat colony permits. • Conduct surveys and inspections related to animal safety and facility compliance. • Report hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions. • Maintain storage areas, consumable supplies, and personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory for animal control operations. • Respond to emergency situations involving animals disrupting operations or injured animals.
Industrial Safety Support
• Support implementation and monitoring of industrial safety programs. • Assist in maintaining safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations. • Conduct workplace surveys and inspections to ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures. • Monitor employee exposure to chemicals and other hazardous substances. • Test and service safety equipment and systems. • Report safety non-compliance or hazardous conditions and recommend corrective actions. • Respond to emergency situations involving hazardous materials, radiation, fire, or smoke incidents.
Basic Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent. No prior experience required. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working in an animal shelter or veterinary clinic. • Experience in animal control management. • Experience working as a farmhand or in livestock handling. • Comfortable working with animals in various conditions.
