3rd Shift Production Supervisor
Location: Hartford, CT
Shift: Monday – Friday | 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM
Reports To: Production Manager
Direct Reports: Union Employees
Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Production Supervisor to lead all 3rd shift production operations within a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing production personnel, coordinating workflow, monitoring equipment and processes, and ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations throughout the shift.
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership experience within manufacturing or industrial operations and the ability to effectively manage union employees while maintaining productivity, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate all 3rd shift production activities
Lead, coach, train, and support production employees to ensure operational goals are achieved
Monitor workflow, staffing, equipment utilization, and production schedules to maintain efficiency
Enforce all company safety procedures, policies, and operational standards
Maintain a safe and clean work environment throughout the facility
Monitor production performance and communicate shift results to management and incoming supervisors
Identify and resolve production, staffing, and workflow issues in a timely manner
Work closely with maintenance, quality, shipping, and other departments to support plant operations
Ensure quality standards and production requirements are consistently met
Maintain compliance with collective bargaining agreements and foster positive union employee relations
Complete shift reporting, production summaries, and other operational documentation as required
Support continuous improvement initiatives and overall plant performance
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Production, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
3–5 years of supervisory experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment required
Experience supervising union employees preferred
Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, production flow, and industrial operations
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
ERP or production tracking system experience preferred
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Work Environment
This is a hands-on position that works in both office and manufacturing environments. Employees are required to wear appropriate PPE, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear while on the production floor. The role may involve exposure to moving equipment, airborne particles, industrial noise, and varying environmental conditions.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent use of hands for handling materials and operating equipment
Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds as needed
Ability to routinely walk the production floor and oversee operations
Additional Information
This is a full-time 3rd shift opportunity with overtime and weekend hours as needed based on production demands. Responsibilities and duties may change as business needs evolve.
