Job Details

Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair food processing and packaging equipment
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting on 110/230/460V systems (motors, relays, panels, wiring)
  • Troubleshoot and support PLCs and VFDs
  • Maintain and repair conveyors, bagging systems, check-weighers, and case erectors
  • Perform preventive maintenance, equipment disassembly, cleaning, and lubrication
  • Read and interpret electrical control schematics
  • Ensure all equipment is production-ready and minimize downtime
  • Fabricate parts and modify equipment as needed
  • Maintain compliance with SQF Food Safety Code and safety standards (LOTO, OSHA)
  • Support facility maintenance including building systems
  • Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and production needs
  • Assist in training and coaching maintenance and operations staff
  • Ensure compliance with city and fire regulations

Qualifications – Needed
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Strong background in food manufacturing (USDA or FDA environments)
  • Experience with packaging equipment and conveyor systems
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical systems, PLCs, and VFDs
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols (LOTO, OSHA, SQF)
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment
  • Willingness to work 3rd shift (Mon–Fri, 10pm–6:30am)
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) and IL Driver’s License are a plus
