Shift: 2nd Shift (3pm-11pm)

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated 2nd Shift Lead CNC Machinist to oversee daily machining operations while actively setting up and operating CNC equipment. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for ensuring production schedules are met, maintaining quality standards, supporting team development, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate has strong CNC machining expertise, leadership experience, and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency in a precision manufacturing environment.


Responsibilities

  • Lead and support 2nd shift CNC machining operations
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC mills and lathes
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications
  • Ensure production schedules and quality requirements are achieved
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections
  • Train, mentor, and support machinists and machine operators
  • Coordinate workflow and prioritize jobs to meet customer deadlines
  • Assist with tooling selection, fixture setup, and process improvements
  • Identify machining and programming issues
  • Maintain compliance with safety, quality, and company procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve manufacturing challenges


Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience
  • 2+ years of leadership, lead machinist, or supervisory experience
  • Experience with CNC mills and/or lathes
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T
  • Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, and inspection methods
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges
  • Ability to troubleshoot machining processes and equipment

Preferred

  • Aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing experience
  • Experience with multi-axis machining centers
  • Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO 9001 environments
  • Forklift and overhead crane experience
