SUMMARY To create a flexible high school program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth, to establish effective rapport with pupils, to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed, to provide a good foundation in accordance with each pupils ability, to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teaches district-approved curriculum.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the time designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and - in harmony with the goals - establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Evaluates students academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports.
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Establish and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members, and vendors.
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • Valid Arizona teaching certificate.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPC).

KNOWLEDGE

  • Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety training manuals.
  • Writing general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
  • Adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Principles and practices of program administration.
  • Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
  • Best practices, trends, and emerging technologies.
  • Principles and techniques of effective oral presentations.
  • Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.

  • Interpreting an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
  • Performing basic original research to assist with developing teaching plans and instructional materials.
