Job Summary

Under the direction of the site administrator, the CTE Sports Medicine Teacher will teach students about sports medicine, covering topics like anatomy, first aid, injury prevention, and rehabilitation for athletes. These programs provide hands-on experience, preparing students for careers in areas such as athletic training and physical therapy. Courses focus on the human body's response to physical activity, how to prevent common sports injuries, provide immediate care, and assist in the rehabilitation process. Candidates must have a strong desire to work with students to help them achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals.

  • Leadership & Organization- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage career pathways, student portfolios, and work-based learning experiences.

  • Commitment to Equity - Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive classroom. REQUIREMENTS

  • Possession of a preliminary or clear CTE Education, authorizing Patient Care, or the ability to obtain the designated CTE Credential prior to employment.

  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree or possession of a high school diploma with at least three (3) years of full-time (1,000 hours) verifiable industry experience.

  • One year of industry experience must be within the last five years or two years of industry experience within the last ten years.

  • First Aid and CPR Certification prior to employment and/or beginning of relevant performance event.

  • Valid California Driver's License. (DO NOT ATTACH TO APPLICATION)

  • Candidates must provide the following immunizations at time of hire: MMR, Tdap within the last 10 years, TB Test within the last 60 days, Flu shot or flu shot waiver.

  • Eligible to apply for the CTE Credential in Health Science

  • Valid Athletic Training Certification from the National Athletic Trainers' Association

  • Knowledge of: Sports Medicine, Sports Therapy, Athletic Rehabilitation

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

All employment offers are conditional, based upon the successful completion of the following: Fingerprint/background clearance and a tuberculosis clearance. A physical examination clearance is required for certain positions in the district. All candidates with a record of convictions must indicate such on the confidential/legal section of the application, which is attached to the job application.
