Assistant Coach II

Salary Reports to Head Coach Salary See Current Salary Schedule Reports to Athletic Director Principal SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Coach in various secondary school interscholastic athletic programs REPRESENTATIVE DUTIESESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPromote sports in the schools and communityPlan the assigned athletic programOrganize and supervise practicesTeach individual fundamental skills team play team strategy and rules and regulations of the gameTeach good sportsmanship and self-controlCheck eligibility of participants including insurance coverage and parent consentProvide students a proper role model emotional support patience a friendly attitude and general guidanceConduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletesRecommend the purchase of equipment supplies and uniforms as appropriate for the health safety and welfare of student athletesUtilize Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports PBIS as outlined at the schooldistrictMaintains regular and predictable attendanceAdheres to the professional code of ethicsSuccessfully utilizes technology as appropriate in job functionPerform related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Shall be a high school graduate and 21 years of age. Shall not be a violent offender or convicted of a sex crime. Shall meet 1 of the following: a. Have graduated from a public or accredited high school and hold a provisional or standard teaching certificate b. Have completed sixty-four semester hours of college credit from an accredited college or university as documented by an official transcript c. Be a graduate from a public or accredited high school and comply with the local district standards for serving as an approved substitute teacher as approved by the Education Professional Standards Board d. Be a graduate from a public or accredited high school and complete all Board of Control prescribed electives as detailed Level 2 coaches approved under this provision shall complete these requirements before coaching in the first interscholastic contest.

Post hire requirements include: a. AEDCPR training b. Coaches Education Program c. Sports Safety Training d. Rules Clinic HS only e. Shall complete all background checks as required by the district and state.
