What You'll Do:
As a PICU RN, you'll deliver top-tier, independent nursing care to critically ill children, utilizing your ventilator experience and pediatric expertise. Your role includes assessments, medication administration, family education, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. You will help create a healing environment by addressing complex emotional, social, and clinical needs, ensuring every patient receives compassionate, comprehensive care. Your leadership in managing contingencies and delegating tasks will be key to successful outcomes.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 1 year of pediatric ICU or ventilator experience
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in pediatric ventilator management
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (AHA only)
- Valid RN license in Texas or a compact state
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience with pediatric emergency interventions
- Perinatal RN residency or recent pediatric practice
- Additional specialized certifications in pediatric critical care
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- At least 1 year of pediatric or neonatal ICU experience preferred
Other Requirements:
- Must attend New Nurses Orientation within 30 days of hire
- Full-time schedule: Night shifts, 7 PM 7 AM
- Travel experience and willingness to cover short-term assignments
- Temp-to-perm options available with potential for permanent placement
- Must have ventilator and pediatric ICU experience to qualify
