CPAH's primary service area, northern Cook County and Lake County, IL, has some of the wealthiest communities in our state, as well as some of the poorest; 34% of the communities in Illinois which have less than 10% of their housing stock as affordable are within our service area. The AI Capacity Builder will help CPAH become more efficient in order to develop and preserve more affordable housing units, as well as provide more services, to help meet this critical need. The VISTA will collaborate with staff in multiple areas (intake, case management, fundraising, reporting, etc.) to produce an AI Opportunity Assessment that identifies potential use cases for AI tools, ranked by impact, feasibility, and risk. They will pilot and monitor strategies that use AI to reduce staff time, improve turnaround, and increase accuracy. By the end of service, they will produce a final AI Impact report that summarizes outcomes and opportunities while advising leadership on AI policies and guardrails.
