PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Title I Family Engagement Liaisons purpose is to connect the home and school in a positive, respectful, and welcoming manner. The liaison works to bridge the gap between home and school by helping parents/family members get the information and support they need to ensure their childs academic and social success.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Certification High School Diploma GED from an accredited institution required Minimum of 20 college credit hours

Experience Two years of related work experience or a combination of college and related work experience

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGES AND SKILLS

• Energetic and Positive • Strong critical thinking skills • Ability to work well with families, children, teachers, and school leadership • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions • Proficient in using computers, Google, and Microsoft Suite electronic communication platforms • Ability to speak before a large group of people • Flexible work hours are required; some evenings and weekend activities will be required • Experience working/volunteering in a school environment • Ability to speak, read, and write English (second language preferred as determined by campus need) • Ability to organize, prepare, and host campus events

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

I. FACILITATION OF THE FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM

• Fostering welcoming environments for ALL families • Building relationships with all families through personal contact, supporting home visits • Assisting in the communication process between home and school • Assisting school leadership, campus staff, and the Family & Community Engagement department by keeping them informed of special needs and concerns of families • Assisting campus staff with family-related programs and initiatives to promote a culture of inclusiveness • Responsible for developing and serving as co-chair of the Family Engagement Team

II. STUDENT SUPPORT

• Planning and implementing activities according to the campus Family Engagement Policy and Plan • Working with campus academic staff to host events for families to understand curriculum, assessments, and at-home academic support • Hosting opportunities for families to improve their parenting skills through various educational workshops • Working with community organizations to support and engage families in their students education and social-emotional support

III. CAMPUS FAMILY SUPPORT

• Engaging families to become full partners with the school • Providing appropriate translations as needed for day-to-day communication • Maintaining family confidentiality • Coordinating and promoting family volunteerism, assisting with the volunteer application process, serving as a volunteer work coordinator between school staff and volunteers • Providing families with community resources, updated district and campus information • Building relationships with the business and faith-based community for resources and information to support families • Supporting school leadership as an ambassador for the campus • Collaborating with school leadership and other stakeholders to ensure appropriate parent, family, and community stakeholders are involved in family engagement-related decision-making for the school

IV. TITLE I FAMILY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM COMPLIANCE

• Maintaining compliance documentation to show evidence of implementation of the requirements as noted in ESSA Section 1116 • Submitting compliance documentation to appropriate electronic collection systems for record-keeping • Keeping school leadership and district Family & Community Engagement department updated on all Title I compliance issues and concerns to ensure 100% compliance with ESSA District Family Engagement Policy and Campus Family Engagement Policy • Attending Family Engagement Liaison staff meetings and trainings as set by the Family & Community Engagement department to stay abreast of best practices, strategies, and procedures

V. MISCELLANEOUS

Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal, Title I family engagement specialist, family engagement specialist.
