Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides a comprehensive curriculum for advanced Visual Arts.
  • Teaches Sections of Art 2, Advanced Art, and AP art
  • Assist with the implementation of best classroom practices in accordance with local and state standards.
  • Collaborates with the Fine Arts Director in the planning and preparation of the annual Fine Arts Showcase.
  • Collaborates with the Elementary, Middle, and High School Visual Arts team to create high quality vertical alignment within the district.
  • Has exceptional organizational skills.
  • Has taught Art prior to current employment.
  • Advocates for Fine Arts scholar needs.
  • Attends ongoing professional development with the district Fine Arts team
  • Maintain a safe and productive classroom environment
  • Is an active member of TAEA
  • Annually participates in V.A.S.E.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Relative experience with teaching high school level art
  • Exceptional organizational skills

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep-seated belief in the mission and vision of Austin Achieve
  • Be willing to do "whatever it takes" to ensure all scholars learn
  • Hold all scholars to the highest expectations
  • Excellent classroom management and teaching skills
  • Experience in collaboratively developing lesson and unit plans
