Aviation Instructor & Part 147 Accountable Manager

| VISION

Butler Tech is expanding its aviation program and seeks an experienced aviation maintenance professional to serve as an Aviation Instructor & FAA Part 147 Accountable Manager. This position is responsible for delivering high-quality aviation instruction while ensuring Butler Tech''s Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS) maintains compliance with all applicable FAA Part 147 regulations and certification requirements.

The successful candidate will provide aviation maintenance instruction, oversee FAA regulatory compliance, collaborate with industry partners, and help prepare the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals. Butler Tech can help candidates without teaching experience pursue alternative teaching licensure upon hire.

| GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The Aviation Instructor & FAA Part 147 Accountable Manager serves in a dual role as both an Aviation Instructor and the FAA-designated Accountable Manager for Butler Tech''s Part 147 Aviation Maintenance Technician School (AMTS).

As an instructor, this individual is responsible for delivering high-quality aviation instruction that aligns with Ohio Department of Education & Workforce standards and/or FAA Part 147 curriculum requirements. The instructor employs effective teaching strategies to ensure students develop the technical knowledge, skills, and professional competencies necessary for success in the aviation industry. The instructor always prioritizes student growth and seeks to identify learning opportunities in every situation.

As the FAA Part 147 Accountable Manager, this position has ultimate authority and responsibility for ensuring the AMTS maintains compliance with all FAA Part 147 regulations, FAA-approved policies and procedures, and certification requirements. The Accountable Manager serves as Butler Tech''s primary liaison with the Federal Aviation Administration and is responsible for ensuring appropriate facilities, equipment, curriculum, operational, and record-keeping procedures are in place to support regulatory compliance and student success.

| HIRING GOALS

We are seeking applicants who can start in August 2026; however, we may review alternative timeline considerations on an individual basis.

| QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must meet ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • High school diploma AND at least 5 years of relevant work experience in aviation maintenance AND willingness to & ability to complete Ohio''s alternative teacher licensure process; OR

  • Current Ohio State Board of Education (SBOE) licensure in an Aviation, Transportation, or Engineering teaching area;

  • Must hold FAA certifications relevant to the position:

  • Required: Airframe and Powerplant mechanic ratings

  • Preferred: Inspector Authorization (IA) certification

  • Preferred: FAA certification(s) in piloting (Private Pilot''s License, etc.)

  • Previous teaching experience in an academic environment and/or online teaching preferred;

  • Ability to interact successfully with academic as well as business and regulatory stakeholders;

  • Willingness/ability to work with students, teachers, and administrators as a team member;

  • Effective and demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, analytical, oral and written communication, and organizational skills;

  • State-issued identification card with photograph;

  • History of strong work record, including good job attendance, and acceptable criminal record.

| STARTING DATE August 2026 preferred

| LOCATION Butler Tech Aviation Center (located at Middletown Regional Airport)

| SALARY Based upon experience and education ($59,956 125,069)

| BENEFITS Includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; tuition reimbursement

| WORK YEAR 210 days/year - 7.5 hours/day
