Administrative Assistant

Blacksburg High School

10 month position

(8 hrs/day)

Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is accepting applications for a 10-month administrative assistant that is available at Blacksburg High School for the 2025-2026 school year. This is an 8 hour/day position working a 200 day (10 month) contract.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Effective communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience as an administrative assistant and/or administrative office skills
  • Working knowledge of the Google platform (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Sites)
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Functional knowledge of commonly used office equipment and work-flow technologies
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain an unquestionable degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to multitask, work with interruptions, and work under pressure
  • Ability to work with administrators, staff, parents, and students
  • Ability to be dependable and punctual

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a public school system
  • Experience in integrated software systems
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as may be found appropriate and acceptable to meet the requirements of the specific assignment

SALARY: $29,600.00 - $51,903.78 annually, with benefits; commensurate with experience
