2025-2026 Evening Custodian Full-Time Blacksburg High School Montgomery County Public Schools in Virginia is accepting applications for a full-time evening shift custodian position that is available at Blacksburg High School.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The custodian performs routine manual labor associated with the daily cleaning of buildings. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Dust mopping • Sweeping • Wet mopping • Vacuuming • Dusting • Waxing • Removing trash • Cleaning bathrooms • Polishing furniture

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent or passing score on the literacy test given by MCPS Ability to perform tasks requiring moderate physical strength Ability to read basic operating instructions Ability to cooperate with other staff members Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment Ability to respond to emergencies in support of students and school operations Have the physical ability to repeatedly lift heavy objects 40 lbs. as needed Dependability and punctuality Ability to support school functions and community activities as deemed necessary

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment Previous custodial experience Ability to use a computer and input data

SALARY $33,837.88 - $50,196.39 annually with benefits commensurate with experience and pro-rated to start date
