Required Skills:
- Exceptional transfusion service (blood banking) expertise.
- Proficiency in routine and complex laboratory procedures, including specimen processing, testing, and quality control.
- Strong operational knowledge of laboratory instruments and equipment, with troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and perform minor repairs on laboratory devices.
- Skilled in data entry, result verification, and utilizing Laboratory Information Systems.
- Excellent communication skills for reporting critical values and documentation.
- Ability to adapt testing and patient care to diverse populations, with attention to safety and regulatory compliance.
Nice to Have Skills:
- Experience in microbiology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, or urinalysis.
- Cross-training in multiple laboratory sections.
- Knowledge of laboratory accreditation standards and quality improvement protocols.
- Familiarity with phlebotomy and patient specimen collection.
- Prior experience in a travel or temporary laboratory role.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree or higher in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science, with accreditation per CLIA 42 CFR 493.1489.
- Certification as MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS.
- No experience required for new graduates with approved clinical training; one year of clinically relevant experience preferred, including rotations in blood banking, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, or urinalysis within the last five years.
Other Requirements:
- Valid certification in Medical Technology or Laboratory Science, maintained current.
- Demonstrated excellence in transfusion service skills.
- Ability to travel as needed to various healthcare facilities.
- Immediate availability to start on 04/13/2026.
