structural modifications and repairs.

  • Analyze and check engineering data to ensure that it meets the requirements for FAA certification.
  • Develop Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using FEA tools (Nastran/Patran) which supports the design and certification of aircraft structural modifications. Develop linear and nonlinear

finite element models as required.

  • Prepare fatigue and damage tolerance analysis (DTA) which support aircraft modifications on damage tolerant structure.
  • Research and review engineering data (drawings, reports, manuals, etc.) defining aircraft structure or systems to determine the most efficient method of modification or alteration.
  • Develop preliminary analysis necessary to determine a practical aircraft modification approach.
  • Maintain accurate and organized engineering substantiation reports that are fully traceable and serve as an historical record of the aircraft modification or repair.
  • Develop and maintain Structural (Standard) Repair manuals used by maintenance technicians.
  • Coordinate with Designated Engineering Representatives to ensure aircraft modifications, repairs or design deviations achieve applicable FAA certification in a timely manner.
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be requested.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • BS Degree in Engineering.
  • Five to ten years' experience in the engineering field in a hands-on environment preferred. Minimum 3 years' experience.
  • Ability to prepare accurate and concise hand sketches for repair or design improvements. Solidworks, AutoCad or Catia experience a plus.
  • Large aircraft repair experience, preferably on Boeing and/or Airbus aircraft in a Maintenance and Repair Organization (MRO)
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations/certification processes and related requirements.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of engineering principles, repair and fabrication practices, aviation hardware and general aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, SRM's, MM's, SB's, IPC's, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
  • Must have good oral, written, and organizational skills, and be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and be able to work under pressure with a minimum level of supervision.
  • Must possess ability to maneuver around airplanes (i.e., climbing stairs, on work stands, man lifts, etc.) and in confined areas (i.e. cargo compartments, E/E bays, etc.).
  • Ability and willingness to support significant travel, both foreign and domestic.
