Duties Provides teaching and learning support in core Physical Education classes that may include, but is not limited to: Weight training Basketball Dance Yoga Soccer Golf Cardio kickboxing Karate Ultimate frisbee Physical Education lecture classes Essential Duties Promote excellence in instruction through innovative instructional methods in the Health and Human Performance Program. Identify and meet the needs for student learning. Promote student learning and skills attainment. Work within the guiding principles of outcomes-based learning. Deliver teaching to students; assess student learning. Grade papers on time; turn in grades on time. Monitor students for effective and safe execution of exercise movements. Ensure that a safe, respectable classroom environment is achieved. Work within the philosophy and mission of the college as an educator. May occasionally advise Health and Human Performance students and facilitate in their learning. Perform assigned teaching and advising roles to include promoting the program and student retention. Actively engage in communication and collaboration within the Health and Human Performance Department. Work on a planned schedule of professional development to maintain current knowledge and practice. Assist in departmental learning activities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Applications are reviewed for minimum qualifications. In order to be considered, your application must clearly show you meet the minimum qualifications for this position. Education: Masters degree or 27 graduate quarter hours in physical education or a related discipline. Note: Applicants who have not achieved this level of education may be considered if they have considerable documented experience and competency teaching physical education or fitness classes, or have other significant professional proficiency in a sports-related area. Certification: Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification prior to teaching assignment. Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities. Preferred Qualifications Recent college teaching experience as a physical education instructor or fitness instructor. Recent professional experience related to the position. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Requires the ability to work with staff and students. Work is performed in an office or classroom setting with minimal exposure to safety or health hazards.
