Vaco is partnering with a national wealth management technology organization to hire a Software Engineer supporting the development of advisor-facing applications within a large engineering organization. This role sits within a mature engineering environment focused on modernizing core platform capabilities while maintaining strong standards around code quality, collaboration, and engineering discipline.
This is a mid-level individual contributor role within a team of more than 40 engineers responsible for building and evolving a modern platform used by financial professionals nationwide. The environment combines a Microsoft-centric backend stack with modern front-end development, with a strong emphasis on maintainable architecture, testing discipline, and CI/CD practices.
The role offers a hybrid schedule with onsite collaboration Monday through Thursday and optional remote work on Fridays.
Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs and services using C# and modern .NET frameworks
Contribute to React-based front-end components and shared UI libraries used across advisor-facing applications
Translate product requirements and UX designs into reliable, production-ready software
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code that meets performance and accessibility standards
Participate in peer code reviews to ensure correctness, reliability, and engineering quality
Develop and maintain unit, integration, and end-to-end test coverage
Integrate applications with SQL Server, Cosmos DB, and other backend data services
Contribute to CI/CD workflows and automated testing pipelines using modern development tooling
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, and integration challenges
Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, architects, and engineering peers in Agile delivery cycles
Contribute to improving shared engineering standards, documentation, and development practices
3 to 7 years of professional software development experience
Strong backend development experience with C# and modern .NET (.NET Core, .NET 5/6/7+)
Experience building RESTful APIs and backend services
Proficiency with SQL-based data systems such as SQL Server or Cosmos DB
Experience developing UI components with React or a comparable modern JavaScript framework
Hands-on experience with unit testing, integration testing, and CI/CD pipelines
Experience working with Git-based version control workflows
Experience collaborating within Agile engineering teams
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
Experience working in financial services or other regulated industries
Familiarity with Azure services and cloud-native development patterns
Experience modernizing legacy systems or migrating monolithic applications
Experience integrating third-party APIs
Certifications related to Azure, React, or modern development frameworks
