Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe and .NET Modernization Lead to drive our enterprise application modernization initiatives through AI-assisted development methodologies. This role combines deep legacy systems expertise with cutting-edge AI/LLM-driven engineering practices to reimagine how large-scale application portfolios are assessed, transformed, and modernized.
The ideal candidate will architect and execute proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives that leverage AI agents and intelligent workflow orchestration to automate the end-to-end modernization lifecycle — from code assessment and transformation through validation and deployment.
Location: within 50 miles of Jersey City, NJ 07302 - 3 days on site mandatory in a week
Pay Range: $70-$75/Hour Applicants must be able to work directly for Artech on W2 from Day 1
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mainframe and .NET modernization initiatives across the enterprise application portfolio
- Design and execute proof of concepts leveraging AI-assisted development methodologies, including LLM-driven code analysis, reverse engineering, and code transformation
- Define and implement AI agent–based development strategies to accelerate and de-risk modernization work
- Build intelligent workflow orchestration frameworks that automate and optimize the full modernization pipeline: code assessment, transformation, validation, and deployment
- Define target-state architectures and scalable transformation roadmaps, with a preference for stacks such as Java and Informatica
- Partner with enterprise architecture, governance, and technology strategy stakeholders to ensure AI-driven solutions align with long-term organizational objectives
- Scale successful POCs into production-grade, repeatable modernization solutions across large and complex application portfolios
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in mainframe and .NET environments
- Proven expertise in AI/LLM-assisted code reverse engineering, refactoring, and transformation
- Experience designing and implementing AI agents and workflow orchestration frameworks for engineering automation
- Strong background in automation-driven code transformation and AI-enabled modernization practices
- Proficiency in Java, Informatica, and Python
- Strong architecture mindset, with the ability to define modernization strategy, target-state architectures, and scalable transformation roadmaps
- Ability to align AI-driven solutions with enterprise architecture principles, governance, and long-term technology strategy
- Demonstrated experience executing POCs and scaling AI-led modernization solutions across large, complex application portfolios
