LEP is a fee‑for‑service program offering access to supports for learners with Specific Learning Disabilities, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), students on the Autism Spectrum, and/or students who have a history of learning differences.Our Mission is two‑fold:To support and service University of Denver studentsTo serve as a resource to the University CommunityPosition SummaryThe Manager of Tutoring Services oversees all aspects of the Learning Effectiveness Programs tutoring services, managing 75‑100 tutors who serve 400‑450 LEP students. This role encompasses recruitment, hiring, training, supervision, and ongoing professional development of tutoring staff. The Manager ensures tutors receive College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification training, maintains program standards, processes payroll, and resolves conflicts between students and tutors. Additionally, this position involves program assessment, campus collaboration, and representation of LEP tutoring services at professional conferences and events.Essential FunctionsProgram ManagementProvide overall management and supervision of tutoring services for 400‑450 LEP studentsServe as primary liaison between counselors, tutors, and studentsSet expectations and communicate policies for tutoring services to all stakeholdersMonitor program for academic integrity violationsResolve communication issues and tutoring conflicts collaborativelyHiring and SupervisionRecruit, hire, and evaluate 75‑100 tutors based on student enrollment needsDetermine tutoring needsSupervise and evaluate 5‑8 Lead Tutors who mentor tutor groups and implement program initiativesConduct ongoing assessment of tutor performanceTraining and Professional DevelopmentProvide comprehensive onboarding for new tutoring staffDeliver training on techniques for working with diverse learning styles and Universal Design for Learning principlesPlan and facilitate ongoing professional development to maintain current best practicesEnsure all tutors complete CRLA certification requirements and ongoing trainingActively participate in professional development at university, Dean of Students, division, and department levelsPayroll and Administrative ManagementProcess accurate and timely payroll through Pioneer Time (Kronos) system each pay periodApprove all tutor timesheets and track additional administrative and preparation timeMonitor recorded time to ensure payroll accuracyRespond to emails and voice messages within 24 hoursTrack tutoring services costs and evaluate on a year‑to‑year basisConduct program evaluation and assessment including data collection, surveys, analysis, and reportingCampus Collaboration and PartnershipsPartner with faculty and staff to create access to learning through resource and strategy sharingCollaborate with campus colleagues to recruit subject‑specific tutorsWork with other tutoring centers including Athletics, Writing Center, Mathematics Lab, and Science and EngineeringSupport FLYTE (LEP Pre‑orientation), Eye to Eye, and ADDventure ConferenceSupport prospective student visits and social skill building eventsComplete other duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesExpertise in interviewing, hiring, and training tutors for diverse subject areas and students with learning disabilitiesProven ability to supervise large, diverse staff (75‑100 tutors) with varying schedulesStrong accountability and expectation‑setting skills with superviseesExceptional mental flexibility, prioritization, and multitasking abilitiesProficiency in learning and training others on tutor scheduling systemsComprehensive knowledge of learning disabilities and differencesDeep understanding of confidentiality requirements and FERPAAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyStrong collaboration skills with students, staff, faculty, and familiesRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in psychology, education, special education, or closely related fieldSupervisory experienceExperience working with studentsExperience in tutoring services management/administrationSpecialized training and experience working with students with learning disabilities and differencesKnowledge and experience applying Universal Design for Learning conceptsPreferred QualificationsMaster's degree in psychology, education, special education, or closely related fieldExperience managing a tutoring centerExperience with a tutoring management/scheduling systemFamiliarity with College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification processSpecialized experience working with college‑level students with learning disabilities and differencesSupervisory experience with tutorsExperience developing and leading professional workshops and training sessionsWorking EnvironmentStandard office environment. Unexpected interruptions occur often, and stress level is moderate to high.
