Departmental Objective

University Advancement is the CNU administrative department, under the direction of the Vice President for University Advancement, that solicits and manages charitable gifts on behalf of the Christopher Newport University Educational Foundation.

Purpose of the Position

This position serves as the primary operational/business manager for the University Advancement office. It is responsible for budget management, oversight, tracking, and reporting as well as managing and facilitating all office needs.

It serves as the operational liaison to HR for the department and as the administrative and operational contact for Advancement with other University offices. Additional responsibilities include collecting all incoming gifts and pledge documentation and organizing these items for gift processing.

Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, business, or related field.

Experience:

  • Proven experience in managing budgets.
  • Experience facilitating HR operational needs for an office.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office to include Word, Access or Excel.

  • Experience in a University Advancement or Development office.
  • Previous experience working in higher education.

Salary Information Starting at $41,121, commensurate with education and experience CNU Information
