This Faculty position offers the potential stipend opportunity of up to $20,000 - please see other duties for stipend below
Faculty members are primarily teachers and are responsible .for the preparation and implementation of assigned courses. The college expects faculty members to expend about three-quarters of their time in teaching responsibilities.
This position supports the Aviation Studies and Air Traffic-Collegiate Training Initiative (AT-CTI) programs by teaching general aviation and air traffic control topics in classroom and simulation environments and by mentoring students through the FAA preparation process. Faculty devote most of their time to teaching, student support, and program development.
Examples of Duties
- Teaches a minimum of 15 contact hours per week in aviation studies and air traffic control courses
- Participates in college-wide committee work, recruitment day activities, student advising, community outreach, etc.
- Communicates and executes pedagogical and classroom management plans effectively
- Clarifies to students the expectations and standards for assignments, assessments, and all class policies
- Advises students, shows concern for their academic welfare providing assistance with course work and planning of programs
- Develops and teaches appropriate course content for classroom and online use that conforms to WCAG 2.0 specifications for accessibility
- Conducts program assessment and communicates recommendations to department
- Works with other faculty to recommend selection of textbooks and classroom resources
- Assists in development of an effective means of evaluating and establishing clearly defined grading standards and procedures maintaining course consistency and academic rigor
- Responds to colleges needs and adheres to departmental and college policies
- Pursues professional development and increased knowledge in teaching through avenues such as self-and graduate study, workshops and conferences
- Participates in department meetings
- Participates in the college governance process through division-level tasks
Other Duties for Stipend Opportunity:
- Provide instruction on Air Traffic Control topics and procedures, using a Tower Simulation System.
- Ensure compliance with FAA procedures related to AT-CTI program requirements.
- Mentor students in the FAA Air Traffic Controller application process.
- Develop simulation scenarios for AT-CTI training using Adacel Whiteboard.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Education:
- AppropriateFAAorMilitary professionalairtrafficcontrolexperience,degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of fully credentialed experience as one of the following:
- FAA Certified Air Traffic Control Specialist (ATCS)
- Military controller with FAA credentials
- International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) air traffic controller
- Control Tower Operator(CTO) controller.
Basic computer skills
Preferred:
- Experience withAdacel TSS and/ or UFA Enroute simulation
- FAA/DoD On-the-job Training Instructor (OJTI) experience or FAA Operations Supervisor (OS)/DoD Watch Supervisor experience. Experience with an FAA AT-CTI program
Competencies and Skills:
- Strong communication and instructional skills.
- Ability to deliver instruction in classroom, remote (Zoom or comparable), and online formats.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite.
- Ability to mentor and guide students pursuing FAA ATC career
