This role is strictly focused on aerial fiber construction activities and does not include splicing or enclosure work. The Fiber Tech II is expected to work independently or as part of a crew to complete aerial builds safely, efficiently, and in accordance with construction standards, safety regulations, and project requirements.Key Responsibilities Install, maintain, transfer, and remove aerial fiber optic cable on utility poles and related structuresPerform strand placement, lashing, over-lashing, cable transfers, and pole-to-pole constructionInstall and secure aerial fiber hardware, including strand, anchors, clamps, and related attachmentsEnsure proper cable sag, clearance, and alignment in compliance with NESC and project specificationsRead and interpret construction prints, maps, and aerial plant documentationIdentify construction-related issues such as clearance violations, damaged cable, or improper attachmentsSafely operate bucket trucks, lashers, tensioners, and other aerial construction tools and equipmentCoordinate work with crew members, supervisors, traffic control, and other utilities as requiredPerform routine inspections of aerial plants and report deficiencies or safety concernsMaintain accurate daily reports, redlines, and material usage documentationFollow all OSHA regulations, NESC standards, and company safety policiesRequired Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of experience in aerial fiber optic constructionDemonstrated experience with strand and lash aerial construction methodsAbility to climb poles and work at heights in varying weather conditionsStrong knowledge of aerial fiber construction practices, materials, and hardwareAbility to read and understand construction drawings and aerial network documentationValid driver's license with a clean driving recordWillingness to work occasional nights, weekends, and overtime as required by project schedulesStrong attention to detail and commitment to safe, high-quality workmanshipPreferred Qualifications Experience operating bucket trucks and aerial liftsFamiliarity with NESC, OSHA, and local utility attachment requirementsFirst Aid/CPR or OSHA safety certificationsPhysical Requirements Ability to lift 75 lbs.Ability to stand, climb, bend, and work overhead for extended periodsComfortable working at heights and in outdoor environmentsField-based role with outdoor work in all weather conditionsMay require travel and occasional overnight staysOccasional night, weekend, and emergency work based on project demandsThis job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s)incumbentin this position.
