LVN DSD / Infection Preventionist

We are currently recruiting for an experienced LVN Director of Staff Development (DSD) / Infection Preventionist (IP) for a skilled nursing facility in Orange County, California.

This is an opportunity to join a stable and supportive skilled nursing operation with improving census, stabilized staffing, and strong leadership support. The organization is seeking a hands-on clinical educator and infection prevention leader who can help maintain accountability, support staff development, and continue strengthening clinical systems.

Position Summary

The LVN DSD / IP will oversee staff development, infection prevention processes, scheduling coordination, and ongoing clinical education within the facility. This individual will work closely with nursing leadership and operational teams to ensure compliance, staff competency, and consistent clinical practices throughout the building.

The ideal candidate is an experienced DSD who understands the pace and expectations of skilled nursing and can effectively balance education, compliance, scheduling oversight, and infection prevention responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all staff development and clinical education initiatives

  • Oversee infection prevention and infection control programs

  • Conduct clinical rounds and ensure compliance with regulatory standards

  • Coordinate and manage nursing schedules

  • Support onboarding, orientation, and ongoing competency training

  • Maintain required documentation, tracking, and reporting

  • Collaborate with nursing leadership to improve systems and accountability

  • Assist with survey preparedness and regulatory compliance efforts

  • Participate in interdisciplinary leadership meetings and educational forums

  • Support ongoing staffing stabilization initiatives and culture development

Qualifications

  • Active California LVN license required

  • Prior skilled nursing facility experience required

  • Prior Director of Staff Development (DSD) experience required

  • Infection Preventionist (IP) certification strongly preferred

  • Candidates with one certification and willingness to obtain/renew the second may be considered

  • Strong understanding of skilled nursing regulations and clinical operations

  • Experience with staff education, scheduling, and compliance management

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment

  • Strong communication, organization, and follow-through skills
