Role and Responsibilities
Full Time position supporting the TESS Task Order filling the Aegis BMD Senior Systems Engineer position with moderate travel. Duties include planning and coordinating the execution of new BMD systems on both BMD ships and in a ground test laboratory environment. The position is located onsite at NSWC PHD in Port Hueneme, CA or REMOTE.
Position Duties
Either a Bachelors degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical degree and minimum of 10 years experience or no degree with a minimum of 16 years technical experience supporting Navy systems experience.
Responsibilities:
• Provides daily technical and engineering support, including T&E planning and coordination for Aegis BMD Flight and Ground test missions. • Supports Test and Evaluation Working Group (TEWG) meetings • Participates in Mission Planning Reviews (MPR), Mission Planning Meetings (MPM), Interoperability Working Group (IWG) meetings, and Mission Execution Reviews (MER) • Participates in Mission Readiness Reviews (MRR), Initial Planning Conferences (IPC), Main Planning Conferences (MPC), and Final Planning Conferences (FPC) • Develops test configurations and requirements, mission test plans, and procedures, and lessons learned reports • Interfaces with NAVSEA sponsors, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), MDA ABD Program Directorate, and various other Government and Contractor personnel involved in BMD missions • Develops Operational Overlay documentation, including Letters of Instruction, Master Event Sequence Lists, and Cards of the Day, mission countdown procedures, GoNo Go Criteria, Participation Matrices, Test Constraints Documents, and detailed mission planning and execution schedules
Support for Test Events
• Provides onsite support for test events as required, including attending classified meetings onsite and participating in unclassified meetings by teleconference • Records meeting minutes and action items during planning meetings • Supports test plan development milestone meetings and provides on-site execution support for BMD T&E events to MDA, ABMD, Ground-Based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Integrated Flight Tests, Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD), Maritime Theater Missile Defense (MTMD), At-Sea Demonstration, Formidable Shield, ASDFS, international test exercises, and Pacific Dragon (PACDRAGON) international test events
Travel Requirements
• Must be able to adhere to health and safety rules and regulations • Must have a valid drivers license with own transportation and able to travel 25-50 • Must be able to satisfactorily complete background check and get a government clearance • Must be able to follow company policies and procedures • Must be able to write, speak, and understand English and able to write clear, detailed technical monthly reports
Preferred Skills
• Navy AC School with electronics training
Mandatory Physical Requirements
• Must be capable of working aboard US Navy ships pier side and at-sea
