Provide oral and written communication from EnglishSpanish and vice-versa for various meetings documents and activities.QUALIFICATIONS Education AAAS or a minimum of 60 college credit hours preferred.Valid Texas Educational Aide Certification preferredSpecial KnowledgeSkills Ability to fluently read write and speak in English and SpanishAbility to effectively work and communicate with students parents and school personnel from diverse cultures or backgrounds in English and SpanishMaintain integrity of confidential information relating to students staff or district personnelProficiency in Microsoft Office applications Word Excel PowerPoint etc.Ability to use personal computer and software to develop spreadsheets and databases and word processingProficient keyboarding file maintenance multitasking skillsAbility to meet established deadlinesExceptional organizational and interpersonal skillsMust be detailed oriented self-motivated and able to multi-taskAbility to work collaboratively with othersExperience A minimum of one 1 year of translation and interpretation experience preferredMAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES Bilingual Clerical AideInterprets for parent-teacher conferences student assessments home visits other parent involvement activities and school-home communications.Interprets for IEP meetings as required.Translates homeschool communications for limited English proficient students.Translates student foreign transcripts IEP&rsquos and other documents as necessary.Assists with identification and monitoring of limited English proficient students.Assists with collection of program data for reports to local state and federal agencies.Assists with the instructionremediation of limited English proficient students district wide.Assists families of newly arrived National Origin Minority students in the school registration process.Assists with collection of data and maintenance of records of National Origin Minority students.Assists EL students by tutoring andor working with them individually and in small groups under the supervision of a certified teacher or the ESL resource teacher.Participates in scheduled ESL staff meetings and in-services as requested.Fosters positive relations between the home and school.Makes phone calls to parents.Translate both written and verbal communication from English to Spanish and Spanish to English.Provide interpretations as required by phone conferences or in person.Translate district-wide letters and documents.Proofread other translations and provide feedback.Test and evaluate students that are new to the district for LEP identification and placement.Serve as a liaison between school and community.Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.Participate in departmentstaff meetings and special events as assigned.Perform other duties as assigned.WORKING CONDITIONS Equipment Used Computer with appropriate software printer calculator copier facsimile machine audiovisual equipment.Mental Demands Ability to communicate effectively listening verbally and in writing English and Spanish Spanish translations in reading and writing ability to attend to detail maintain emotional control under stress work with frequent interruption.Physical DemandsEnvironmental FactorsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
