Purchasing Agent (Remote, Contract) for Government Municipality
Purchasing Agent (Remote, Contract) for Government Municipality
Are you an experienced Purchasing professional looking to start a new project on a remote/contract basis? This contract role will focus on independently conducting research for Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Quotations (RFQs) and Request for Information (RFIs) and then drafting and issuing those RFPs, RFQs and RFI’s for various projects. The ideal candidate will have experience with procurement processes, an eye for detail, and a strong ability to independently manage workflows.
Location: Remote
Type: Contract - (Monday through Friday during business hours)
Start: March 2025
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform extensive market research and vendor analysis to identify potential suppliers for various business needs.
• Draft, edit, and issue comprehensive RFPs, RFQs and RFI’s tailored to specific project requirements.
• Organize the collection and comparison of vendor proposals, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and budgets.
• Analyze vendor responses to determine the best fit for the company’s needs.
• Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with vendors, ensuring favorable agreements.
• Keep accurate records of all procurement activities and vendor communications.
• Manage the entire procurement process from research to final selection in an efficient and timely manner.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of RFP, RFQ, RFI creation and management processes.
• Ability to independently conduct research and vendor analysis.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) and procurement software/tools.
• Experience working for a local government municipality in the State of New York.
