| 8 | Job Description | This position provides legal counsel to a municipal Zoning Board of Adjustment. Responsibilities include advising the board on all land-use matters, attending scheduled board meetings, drafting and reviewing legal documents, ensuring compliance with applicable planning and zoning laws, and offering legal guidance during hearings, public meetings, and deliberations. The attorney is expected to support the board's decision-making process by interpreting relevant statutes, case law, and municipal regulations. | ||||||||
| 9 | Mandatory Requirements | Demonstrated expertise in providing legal services to a zoning board or similar entity. Attorney in good standing and licensed to practice in the State of New Jersey. Knowledge and experience with rules, regulations, and processes under applicable New Jersey land-use statutes. Knowledge and experience with Robert's Rules of Order and conducting public meetings. Demonstrable experience representing public bodies, including municipalities, the State of New Jersey, or instrumentalities of the state. Minimum five (5) years of experience representing a land-use board or representing applicants before land-use boards. Ability to provide ongoing and continuous capabilities to perform all required services, including attending regularly scheduled board meetings (1st and 3rd Thursdays, 7:30 p.m. until adjournment). | ||||||||
