Are you passionate about empowering youth and strengthening communities? Abilene Recovery Council’s Youth Prevention Program is seeking a creative and motivated Youth Prevention Specialist to help build healthier futures across 14 counties in Region 2. In this role, you’ll use your creativity to design fun, educational activities and deliver impactful prevention programs in schools and community settings. By fostering strong relationships and collaborating with partners, you’ll play a vital role in promoting awareness, preventing substance misuse, and inspiring positive change. What You’ll Do
· Deliver Positive Action Curriculum to K–12 students, teaching skills for mental, physical, social, and emotional balance.
· Provide universal prevention services across schools and community sites in a 14-county area through presentations and bonding activities.
· Bring awareness to behavioral health and substance misuse (alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, prescription drugs, etc.) via engaging presentations.
· Create fun, proactive activities that redirect youth from risky behaviors and promote healthy choices.
· Collaborate with schools and community partners to implement prevention activities.
· Perform Voluntary Tobacco Compliance Inspections within a 14-county service area.
· Develop positive prevention messages for incentives distributed within the community.
· Maintain referral resources to connect individuals with appropriate services.
· Obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 60 days of hire.
· Participate in training, meetings, and CEU courses relevant to prevention programming.
· Work toward prevention credentials: obtain Associate Prevention Specialist within 20 months and progress toward Certified Prevention Specialist.
What You Bring
· A genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of youth from Kindergarten through High School.
· Excellent written and verbal skills to engage diverse audiences.
· Ability to design engaging activities while staying organized and self-directed.
· Respectful and team-oriented in all interactions.
· Familiarity with—or willingness to learn—substance use prevention and behavioral health topics.
· A dependable vehicle and readiness to travel across Region 2 (mileage reimbursed).
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED required.
- College experience or equivalent work experience in prevention work, education or youth development preferred.

- Job Type: Full-time
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, with some evening, occasional weekend events, travel required
- Work Location: In-person (Abilene, TX 79601)
- Relocation: Must relocate before starting work if not currently in Abilene
