Job Summary
Shift 5am-1:30pm
A Winding Operator is responsible for operating and managing winding machines to produce transformer coils, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards. They operate wire-coiling machines to wind wire or sheet coils used in transformers, review work orders and specifications, cut, strip bend and solder wires at the end of coils. Coil Winders, Tapers, and Finishers are skilled workers who operate machines that wind wire into coils used in electrical devices like motors, transformers, and generators.
Manual horizontal lathe is a plus

Duties and Essential Job Functions
• Operate wire-coiling machines to wind wire or sheet coils used in transformers.
• Read work travelers/orders and specifications to determine materials needed and types of parts to be processed.
• Read and interpret winding sheets, drawings and schematics.
• Operate winding lathes, punches, brakes, slitters and shears.
• Cut, strip and bend wire leads at ends of coils, using pliers and wire scrapers.
• Select and load material such as work pieces, coils and machine parts onto equipment used in the winding process.
• Record or keep production and operational data on specified forms and keep personal notes in reference.
• Attach, alter and trim materials such as wire, insulation and coils using hand tools.
• Stop machines to remove completed components using overhead cranes.
• Accurately examine and test components using measuring devices and record test results.
• Apply glues and tapes or other solutions to wired electrical components using hand tools.
• Braze and weld.
• Interpret and carry out verbal instructions from designated persons or supervisors.
• Ability to meet the company's standards for safety, quality and quantity of work.
• Keep tool set clean and organized.
• Wear proper safety equipment.
• Use above average grip strength and pinch strength frequently.
• Above average hand eye coordination.
• Standing, walking and standing bent slightly forward.
• Lifting 50 – 55 lbs. regularly.
