Responsible for operating waste treatment plants. Operates machinery that converts wastewater in drains and sewers into a form that is safe to release into the environment.
Responsibilities
- The ability to read, follow, and understand the procedures.
- The ability to read and understand formulations and accurately calculate chemical concentrations.
- Identify and understand the properties and hazards of chemicals used in the treatment process.
- Monitor the performance of all equipment.
- Maintain log of operations and record meter readings.
- Monitor environment equipment to assure regulatory compliance.
- Interpret meter readings and test results to determine load requirements.
- Coordinate repairs and modifications with the maintenance department.
- Operate and maintain the pumps and motors that move water and wastewater through the filtration systems.
- Troubleshoot processes and equipment.
- Collect samples for analysis
- Keep records that document compliance.
- Ability to identify, communicate, and mitigate if possible all unsafe behaviors, conditions, and spills.
- Operate forklift and conduct forklift inspections.
- Department Specific: Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.
- Certification in Confined Space Rescue, Hazmat, First responder, Fire brigade.
- Participate in continuous improvement programs.
- Attend Safety Meetings, Site Safety Meetings, and Safety Tours.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
- High school diploma or equivalent - or GED - Required
EXPERIENCE:
- Manufacturing experience - Preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Forklift certification - Required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Distinguish between all primary colors of the rainbow.
- The ability to multi-task must be a quick learner and able to adapt to change.
- Skills/Competencies: Average-above average English and mathematical skills.
