OVERVIEW:
The Warehouse Systems Support Engineer I is an entry-level technical role supporting warehouse automation, material handling equipment (MHE), and related software systems in a high-volume distribution environment. This role provides hands-on exposure to PLC-controlled equipment, warehouse control systems, and industrial automation while offering strong training, mentorship, and advancement opportunities.
OVERVIEW:
The Warehouse Systems Support Engineer I is an entry-level technical role supporting warehouse automation, material handling equipment (MHE), and related software systems in a high-volume distribution environment. This role provides hands-on exposure to PLC-controlled equipment, warehouse control systems, and industrial automation while offering strong training, mentorship, and advancement opportunities.
This position is ideal for candidates looking to build a career at the intersection of IT, engineering, and warehouse operations. You will begin in a Level 1 scope with clearly defined progression based on performance and skill development.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide onsite Tier 1 technical support for warehouse systems and automation equipment.
- Assist with troubleshooting PLC-controlled systems, control panels, sensors, and automation devices.
- Support material handling equipment including conveyors, SRMs, scanners, VFDs, servo motors, and sortation systems.
- Monitor and respond to system alerts, alarms, and abnormal warehouse system behavior.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on automation and control systems.
- Document incidents, root cause findings, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate with vendors and senior support teams for escalated technical issues.
- Help maintain spare parts inventory and MHE asset records.
- Support training for warehouse associates on systems and standard operating procedures.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, uptime, and performance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field OR equivalent hands-on experience.
- 1–3 years of experience in technical support, warehouse operations, automation, controls, or manufacturing systems.
- Basic understanding of PLC systems or industrial controls (formal training or exposure).
- Exposure to warehouse systems, conveyors, automation, or maintenance environments preferred.
- Familiarity with WMS, WCS, or maintenance tracking systems is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in an operational warehouse environment.
- Ability to learn quickly and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
