Overview:
This role offers the opportunity to own warehouse automation performance, lead a skilled maintenance team, and drive long-term reliability across advanced material handling systems.

Role Overview:
The Warehouse Automation & Engineering Manager serves as the local technical authority and people leader responsible for the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of automated material handling systems. This role blends hands-on operational knowledge, engineering oversight, and team leadership to ensure automation supports safe, high-volume distribution operations.

Key Responsibilities:
Automation & Engineering Ownership:
  • Own system performance, uptime, and reliability for automated warehouse equipment.
  • Oversee implementation and long-term maintenance of conveyors, automation, and MHE systems.
  • Ensure systems operate to expected throughput, accuracy, and safety standards.
  • Monitor KPIs and partner with stakeholders to resolve performance gaps.

Maintenance & Reliability Leadership:
  • Lead preventive and predictive maintenance programs across automation assets.
  • Plan and oversee maintenance, repairs, and emergency response activities.
  • Maintain accurate spare parts, tools, and equipment inventories.
  • Drive root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives.

People Leadership:
  • Coach, develop, and manage a team of maintenance technicians.
  • Set clear expectations, performance goals, and development plans.
  • Train team members and warehouse staff on automated system operation and safety.

Safety, Compliance & Continuous Improvement:
  • Champion safety programs including electrical, fire safety, lockout/tagout, and confined space practices.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Vendors on system upgrades and enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, cost, safety, and scalability.

Qualifications:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting or managing warehouse automation or MHE systems.
  • Experience leading or supervising technical teams.
  • Working knowledge of automated distribution or high-volume warehouse environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

Preferred:
  • OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
  • EIT, PMP, CTP, or relevant technical/management certifications.

Physical Qualifications:
  • Physical demands include a considerable amount of time walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping.
  • May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 50lbs.
