Vice President of Procurement
A growing, privately held organization has an opportunity for a Vice President of Procurement to lead and develop the company’s procurement and sourcing strategy. This executive role will oversee all procurement activities, supplier relationships, and sourcing initiatives while aligning closely with operations, finance, and senior leadership.
The VP of Procurement will lead a procurement team and play a critical role in improving supply chain performance, optimizing inventory, managing vendor relationships, and driving cost savings across the organization.
Salary: Approximately $170,000 – $200,000 + Bonus
Key Responsibilities of the Vice President of Procurement
- Lead the company’s procurement and sourcing function across all categories including direct materials, indirect spend, and capital expenditures
- Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with company growth objectives and operational priorities
- Build and maintain long-term strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors
- Lead complex contract negotiations to secure favorable pricing, service levels, and contractual terms
- Partner closely with operations leadership to forecast demand and align procurement with production schedules
- Optimize inventory planning, supply availability, and working capital management
- Oversee vendor sourcing, evaluation, and supplier performance management programs
- Implement procurement policies, processes, and systems to improve efficiency and transparency
- Drive procurement process improvements including automation, analytics, and e-sourcing tools
- Monitor commodity pricing, global market trends, and supply chain risks to guide sourcing decisions
- Lead initiatives focused on cost savings, value engineering, and total cost of ownership reduction
- Develop and mentor a high-performing procurement team while fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration
- Track procurement performance metrics, savings initiatives, and supplier results for executive leadership
Qualifications for the Vice President of Procurement
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business Administration, or related field
- 10–15+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience
- Minimum 5 years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Proven success negotiating contracts and managing strategic supplier relationships
- Experience building and managing vendor programs and supplier networks
- Strong analytical and reporting skills with Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite a plus)
- Experience using data visualization tools such as Power BI preferred
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with operations, finance, and executive leadership
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication, presentation, and project management skills
