Visual Arts Program Coordinator (Part-Time)

ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: Established in 1968, IBA - Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción is a dynamic community development corporation in Boston's South End. IBA's mission is to empower and engage individuals and families to improve their lives through high-quality affordable housing, education, and arts programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Gallery & Curatorial Coordination
- Plans, manages, and executes all visual arts exhibitions and related educational programs.
- Oversees the full curatorial lifecycle, including artist identification, calls-to-artists, portfolio review, interviews, selection, installation, de-installation, openings, talks, and closings.
- Coordinates exhibition logistics: artwork handling, timelines, artist agreements, and collection of marketing materials.
- Maintains regular gallery hours and manage the gallery calendar at least six months in advance.
- Collaborates with Marketing to advertise exhibitions and ensure timely submission of images, wall text, and artist information.
- Prepares volunteers and interns for basic gallery operations and visitor experience.
- Supports gallery sales processes and related data reporting in coordination with the Director of Arts.
Arts Education & Program Facilitation
- Facilitate arts workshops, talks, panels, and creative experiences across Early Education, Youth Development, Financial Empowerment, Resident Services, and Arts & Culture.
- Co-design culturally responsive programming with program directors and staff, aligned to exhibition themes and community needs.
- Support signature events (e.g., Festival Betances, Three Kings, Tito Puente Latin Series) and integrate exhibition-linked learning experiences.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Support program planning, scheduling, production timelines, and event execution.
- Compile and manage seasonal marketing and program materials (artist bios, images, videos, press content).
- Maintain accurate calendars, mailing lists, documentation, and internal communications.
- Coordinate volunteers and interns; collaborate with HR on recruitment as needed.
- Collaborate with the Arts Director and Operations Coordinator to align programming and maximize Arts Space utilization.
External Communication & Partnerships
- Represent IBA at internal/external meetings, trainings, forums, and conferences (some evenings/weekends required).
- Build and maintain relationships with artists, cultural organizations, and community partners.
- Support outreach and build trusting relationships with residents and stakeholders.
Facilities, Maintenance & IT Coordination
- Report and track facilities and maintenance needs to support gallery readiness and program delivery.
- Report and track IT needs that impact exhibitions and arts programming.
Data Monitoring & Evaluation
- Maintain monthly and annual data for exhibitions, workshops, attendance, and program activities.
- Support grant reporting and organizational data requirements; track program metrics and learning outcomes.
Other Duties
- Perform additional duties as needed to support organizational effectiveness.
GENERAL COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS
- Understanding of and advocacy for Latino visual arts; bilingual Spanish–English required.
- Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts/Arts Management or related field preferred (Art History strongly preferred).
- Three years of comparable experience in arts programming, gallery coordination, or arts administration preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; customer-service oriented.
- Strong administration, organization, and project management skills; ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience with data tracking and reporting; high computer literacy, including spreadsheets, databases, and Salesforce.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
IBA is proud to offer very competitive $37-$40 an hour, commensurate with experience, and a robust benefit plan that includes an 80/20 premium cost share for comprehensive health, dental and vision insurance; a generous HRA provided by the company ($9,450 or $18,900 based on single and family coverage) and other built in supports that significantly reduces or eliminates out of pocket medical expenses. We offer a 403b plan with annual employer contribution, and generous paid time off and free parking (limited availability).
