Position Overview

Join us in the summer of 2026 and help us continue a long tradition of supporting creativity, building talent, and celebrating each artists unique journey at Interlochen. We are looking for friendly and dedicated Visual Arts Building Managers who are committed to providing excellent service. This position is responsible for managing all visual arts studios, kiln operations, and will assist the Director of Visual Arts in Visual Arts program operations. Housing and all meals are included with this position.

What You Need

  • Availability6/16/2026 - 8/10/2026
  • Prepared to live in a residence hall with a roommate. While we offer accessible housing accommodations, please note that due to the rustic nature of our camp, these options are limited.
  • Oversee the Studio Assistants and Studio Technicians schedules to ensure success and timeliness
  • Must be able to make quick independent decisions
  • Seek help and delegate when needed
  • Strong background in Sculpture (including welding) is required and applicants should also have some experience with other areas such as ceramics, printmaking, or photography
  • Previous management experience is preferred
  • Equipment Used: Gas and electric kilns, clay mixers, pug mill, arc and TIG welders, plasma cutter, oxy-acetylene set-ups, CNC Router, various hand tools and a variety of woodshop tools and equipment
  • Be somewhat familiar with equipment in photography, digital arts lab, printmaking, metals, and fibers
  • Ability to work a varied schedule as required
