The Department of Geosciences at Skidmore College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in oceanography, marine geology, and/or coastal processes for the 2026-2027 beginning late August, 2026. This is a one-year appointment with responsibilities in teaching.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach 18 contact hours per academic year in oceanography, marine geology, coastal processes or related fields at both introductory and advanced levels.
  • Contribute to departmental support of our students.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Ph.D. degree in an appropriate geosciences discipline or closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level

Salary:  $68,989

All bargaining unit members shall be covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Skidmore College and Services Employees International Union (SEIU), Local 200 United.
