Video Production Intern (Film / TV / Social Media)

Position Summary

Aging with Dignity (AWD) is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization with a mission to safeguard the God-given right to age with dignity. It is America’s premier guide for end-of-life care and maintaining human dignity. AWD’s Five Wishes advance care planning program has reached more than 44 million people and their families around the world, is available in 33 languages, and has been distributed by 15,000 organizations.

The mission of AWD was inspired by the life and work of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. AWD’s advocacy efforts put humans first and oppose the dehumanizing effects of physician-assisted suicide (PAS) by providing hopeful alternatives.

The Video Production Intern will work from AWD’s office in Falls Church, VA, and report directly to the Director of Digital Media.

The intern will play a hands-on active role in planning, filming, editing, thumbnail design for various digital media projects from concept through final delivery. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment where projects can move quickly and deadlines matter. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys learning by doing and is motivated to take initiative while continuing to develop their production and editing skills.

This internship is full-time and will proceed on a month-to-month basis at a rate of $21/hour. Excellent performance may convert the role into a full-time hire, at which point salary expectations can be discussed.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist the Director of Digital Media in the end-to-end production of long- and short-form digital video content.

Responsibilities include:

• Planning and setting up lighting, sound, video and scene elements for shoots in our office studio, and as part of shoots in and around the Washington, DC area
• Editing short and long-form video content in Adobe Premiere
• Creating and managing casting call auditions for video shoots
• Developing thumbnails, titles, and descriptions that maximize each video’s organic growth potential
• Delivering videos on time, at exceptional quality, with attention to audience engagement and storytelling
• Creating versions of videos suitable for different social media platforms with attention to viewer retention and performance
• Monitoring the performance of AWD and ASW videos on social media platforms and adjusting video production or implementation processes based on relevant data

Skills & Experience

Required:

• Strong alignment with AWD’s mission, core beliefs and strategic direction
• Demonstrated professionalism in a workplace environment
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and balance competing priorities
• Awareness of matters that require discretion and respect of confidentiality
• Previous exposure to stages of video creation such as shooting, sound, lighting and editing, with proficiency required in at least one area
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and Photoshop

Experience with video editing or production can be demonstrated through personal projects, student work, freelance work, or other creative media efforts.

Preferred (not required):

• Social media management experience
• Graphic or motion design skills (Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects)
• Experience filming live events
