Victim/Witness Assistant
Temporary (FMLA Coverage)
Looking for meaningful work where you can truly help people? Remember you’re not alone—we’re looking for a compassionate, organized Victim/Witness Assistant to join our team on a temporary basis while a staff member is on FMLA leave.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys helping others, staying organized, and working in a fast-paced office environment. You’ll be a key point of contact for victims and witnesses, helping them understand the legal process and feel supported along the way.
What You’ll Do
Be a friendly, reliable point of contact for crime victims and witnesses
Share information about court processes, victim rights, and available community resources
Coordinate interviews and meetings with attorneys, advocates, victims, and witnesses
Provide support during court proceedings and help with victim impact statements
Keep in touch with victims and witnesses, help with restitution information, and document case contacts
Answer phone calls, respond to questions, and route messages as needed
Help keep cases moving by handling general office tasks like scanning, copying, emailing, and data entry
What We’re Looking For
High school diploma or GED
At least two years of clerical or court-related experience (or a mix of education and experience that gives you the right skills)
Strong communication skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure
Comfortable typing, multitasking, and working with deadlines
Able to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
Valid Washington State driver’s license and ability to pass a background check
Nice to Have
Legal, advocacy, or victim-services experience
Experience working with the public in emotionally challenging situations

Work Environment
This position is based in an office setting with regular interaction with the public. The role involves sitting, standing, walking, using office equipment, and occasionally lifting items up to 30 pounds.
