This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As the Vice President of Quality at Blue Origin, you will be a key leader reporting to the Vice President of Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. In this critical role, you will provide strategic direction for the Quality Management team while developing and implementing commercial quality processes across all business units. You will drive Blue Origin's quality vision, fostering a culture that emphasizes accountability, structure, and attention to detail at all levels. This position directly impacts the history of space exploration, supporting our mission of safe and reusable spaceflight through exceptional quality leadership. You will be responsible for quality oversight of launch vehicles, spacecraft, and related technologies throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:Define and implement quality strategy aligned with Blue Origin's long-term goals for human spaceflight and lunar operations.

Quality Culture:Establish and maintain a culture of quality excellence that permeates all levels of the organization.

Quality Management System:Lead all aspects of Blue Origin's QMS, including compliance with AS9100/ISO9000, integration, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Risk Management:Identify potential quality risks and develop proactive measures to mitigate them, safeguarding product integrity.

Team Leadership:Serve as a servant leader who inspires teams, providing timely feedback while developing quality talent across the organization.

Operational Oversight:Deliver program quality commitments across operations, testing, and flight while implementing design reviews to improve manufacturability.

Continuous Improvement:Drive data-driven initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across all quality functions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations to integrate quality management into all business aspects.

Customer Focus:Champion a customer-centric approach, collaborating with external customers on quality concerns and investigations.

Regulatory Compliance:Ensure adherence to aerospace quality standards and regulations, maintaining readiness for audits and certifications.

Performance Management:Establish quality KPIs and metrics to measure, report, and improve organizational performance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related technical field; advanced degree preferred

15+ years' quality experience in manufacturing, test, or operations with at least 10 years in quality leadership roles

Proven track record of leadership in quality management systems implementation and oversight

In-depth knowledge of aerospace quality standards and regulations (AS9100, ISO9000)

Experience with quality assurance in test, development, production, and maintenance environments

Strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to influence at all levels

Strategic mindset focused on driving innovation and continuous improvement

Experience collaborating across matrix-led organizations

Desired Qualifications:

Aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation, or heavy industrial equipment manufacturing experience

Knowledge of design for inspection or testability methodologies

Experience with NDE (Non-Destructive Evaluation) and receiving inspection processes

Strong business acumen aligning quality strategies with overall business objectives

Six Sigma, Lean certification, or other quality improvement methodologies

Experience leading quality organizations during periods of rapid growth and transformation

Track record in space vehicle quality investigations and corrective actions

Compensation Range For
WA applicants is $267,750.00 - $362,250.00

Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing (CDL drivers only), vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical

Paid Time Off: Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.
