Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Vice President of Pathology and Lab, you are responsible for providing strategic leadership and overseeing operations. You will determine how their department impacts company and center strategy, then develops operational tactics and processes at the department level to support the strategies. You will proactively perform department analysis and collaboratively work with their Director(s) to set department productivity and quality standards. You will need to be proficient in facilitation and interpersonal communication.

What you will do in this role:

  • Lead and oversee all aspects of the pathology and lab billing department, ensuring accurate and timely billing and revenue cycle management.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize payor contracting, alignment, and reimbursement for pathology and lab services.
  • Provide expert guidance and leadership to the pathology and lab services lines and clinical services group on financial performance, market trends, and operational best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, productivity, and financial outcomes within the pathology and lab department.
  • Oversee all aspects of pathology and lab billing, including coding, claims submission, payment posting, and denial management.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Conduct financial analysis, including preparation, escalation, impact assessment, and resolution of financial issues.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with billing regulations and organizational policies.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to leadership on financial performance, operational efficiency, and strategic initiatives.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Minimum of seven years of progressive healthcare management experience, with at least three years in a leadership role within a pathology and lab department or billing company.
  • Proven track record of success in pathology and lab billing, revenue cycle management, and payor relations.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field required.
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), Master's in Healthcare Administration (MHA), or a related field preferred.
