Summary

The Vice President & Head of IT is responsible for developing and executing the company’s technology strategy in alignment with overall business goals. This role oversees all IT operations, infrastructure, cybersecurity, systems integration, and data management for a fast-paced telecommunications environment. The VP provides both strategic vision and hands-on leadership to ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of the company’s technology platforms that support customers, field operations, and corporate functions.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement a multi-year technology roadmap supporting business growth, operational efficiency, and CX goals.
  • Partner with executive leadership to align IT initiatives with business priorities, including network expansion, customer platforms, and digital transformation efforts.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends in telecommunications, data analytics, and automation to maintain a competitive edge.

Operational Management

  • Oversee daily IT operations, including network infrastructure, enterprise systems, databases, and end-user support.
  • Direct the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of ERP, CRM, and OSS/BSS systems critical to telecom operations.
  • Lead system integrations for acquisitions, new product rollouts, and platform upgrades.
  • Manage vendor relationships, licensing, and technology contracts to ensure cost-effective performance and compliance.

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

  • Develop and enforce IT security policies, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, data privacy regulations, and telecom security requirements (e.g., CPNI, FCC).
  • Proactively manage system risks, perform audits, and implement remediation plans.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop an IT team of managers, engineers, analysts, and support specialists.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and service excellence.
  • Establish performance metrics, service level agreements (SLAs), and continuous improvement processes.

Budgeting & Planning

  • Develop and manage annual IT budgets, capital expenditures, and resource plans.
  • Track and report IT performance, KPIs, and project outcomes to executive leadership and the Board.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field required; MBA or related master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including 5+ years in a senior management or VP-level role.
  • Experience within the telecommunications industry strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success managing enterprise systems, network operations, and cybersecurity in a multi-location environment.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of telecom infrastructure, network architecture, and data systems (fiber, VoIP, broadband, OSS/BSS, etc.).
  • Proven experience leading digital transformation and enterprise modernization initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term vision with hands-on operational execution.
  • Vendor and contract negotiation expertise.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards such as NIST, SOC2, and CPNI.
  • Experience with cloud migration, automation, and AI-driven tools.
  • Background in scaling IT operations in a high-growth or merger/acquisition environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
