Job Details
A well-established, multi-site healthcare system is seeking a Vice President of Finance to lead the financial operations of a hospital community within its regional network. This executive will serve as the senior finance leader for the community and act as a strategic partner to executive leadership, clinical teams, and operational stakeholders.
This role reports to a Regional CFO and provides leadership across accounting, payroll, budgeting, decision support, financial planning and analysis, regulatory reporting, and internal controls.
Position Overview
The Vice President of Finance is responsible for the overall direction and leadership of the finance function for the hospital community, including:
Oversight of Accounting, Payroll, Budgeting, and Decision Support functions
Cash management, invoice processing, and compensated time/payroll administration
Financial planning, budget coordination, and capital plan preparation
Reporting of productivity, labor utilization, operational statistics, and financial results
Direct supervision of decision support including cost accounting, service line analysis, and volume trend tracking tools
Oversight of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports, IRS filings, and regulatory compliance reporting
Leadership of internal control systems and support of annual external audits
Financial analysis for strategic initiatives and special projects
Collaboration with regional and system-wide finance teams to ensure compliance and operational alignment
Leadership Responsibilities
Serve as strategic financial advisor to the Hospital CEO and senior leadership team
Lead annual operating and capital planning processes for the community
Drive operational performance through financial insight and metric tracking
Present financial results and analysis to executive stakeholders and governance bodies
Support system-wide finance initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
CPA preferred
MBA or Master’s in Finance or Healthcare Administration preferred
Experience
Minimum 5 years in senior financial leadership within a hospital or large healthcare organization
Demonstrated success in financial strategy, budgeting, operational performance improvement
Revenue cycle improvement experience preferred
Key Competencies
Executive-level healthcare finance leadership (Director level or above)
Strong operational finance background with ability to drive performance metrics
Strategic partnership with clinical and operational teams
Skilled in presenting complex financial insights to executive leadership
Knowledge of healthcare reimbursement, payer contracting, and regulatory compliance
