Veterinary Receptionist

As a Veterinary Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for clients, both in person and over the phone. We are looking for someone who excels in customer relations, can handle multiple tasks efficiently, and provides exceptional service. Strong communication skills, professionalism under pressure, and the ability to handle stressful situations with care are key qualities for success in this position.
- Building positive, professional relationships with clients and team members.
- Greeting clients, answering questions, and providing excellent customer service.
- Answering phone calls, triaging, screening, and scheduling appointments.
- Differentiating routine cases from emergency cases.
- Scheduling appointments and surgeries.
- Managing client, patient, and financial data using practice management software.
- Processing payments, generating invoices, and explaining them to clients.
- Handling incoming and outgoing mail, email, PetDesk requests, and Weave messages.
- Managing medical records, including retrieval and storage.
- Assisting with prescription retrieval and pet supply purchases.
- Maintaining a clean and welcoming waiting area.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Previous cashier or front-office experience preferred.
- Proficiency with computers and practice management software.
- Experience in the veterinary field is highly preferred, but not required.
- Any continuing education in animal care or customer service is a plus.
Benefits and Schedule:
- Part-time benefits available after a 90-day probationary period include pet care discounts and a uniform allowance.
- Part-time is typically 2-3 weekday days, arrival required by 7:45 AM, with an estimated departure at 5:15 PM (including a 1-hour break) in conjunction with alternating Saturdays arrival required by 7:45 AM, with an estimated departure at 1:15 PM. (Part-time is considered regularly scheduled for 63 hours or less in a bi-weekly payroll period.)
- Full-time benefits available after a 90-day probationary period include designated paid holidays, 75% health insurance, 401K, pet care discounts, and a uniform allowance.
- Full-time is typically 4 weekday days, arrival required by 7:45 AM, with an estimated departure at 5:15 PM (including a 1-hour break), in conjunction with alternating Saturdays arrival required by 7:45 AM, with an estimated departure at 1:15 PM. (Full-time is considered regularly scheduled for 64 hours or more in a bi-weekly payroll period.)
- Paid time off starts after 1 year of employment for full-time employees.
- Continuing education is encouraged and supported upon approval.

Though we don’t offer full grooming services, we do provide brush-outs and baths by request.
