Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinarians and ensure the comfort and care of our animal patients. This role is essential to the smooth operation of our facility and requires a mix of animal care, technical support, and client interaction.

You’ll assist with daily care tasks such as feeding and grooming, support veterinarians during exams and procedures, and help maintain a clean and safe environment for animals and staff. Candidates must be comfortable working with injured or frightened animals, some of whom may behave aggressively.

Responsibilities

• Feed, groom, and weigh animals

• Clean cages and maintain overall facility hygiene

• Sterilize equipment and examination areas

• Restrain animals during exams, procedures, or vaccinations

• Calm distressed or frightened animals

• Administer medications as prescribed

• Observe and report changes in animal behavior or health

• Assist with emergency care

• Manage administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments

• Maintain accurate patient records

• Communicate with clients about pet care and procedures

• Provide guidance on pet nutrition and general health care

Skills & Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience in a veterinary or animal care setting (Required)

• Veterinary Assistant certification (Preferred)

• Excellent verbal communication skills

• Patient, caring, and empathetic demeanor

• Ability to follow instructions accurately

• Comfortable restraining small animals

• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• 10-hour shifts
