Veterinary Assistant

- Building positive relationships with clients and team members.
- Assisting veterinarians with physical exams, procedures, and patient care.
- Dispensing medications as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Assisting veterinary technicians with radiographs, patient positioning, and anesthesia monitoring.
- Preparing patients for surgery and assisting with surgical procedures.
- Sterilizing surgical instruments and assisting with lab diagnostics.
- Monitoring and providing comfort care to patients.
- Supporting the kennel team with animal care (e.g., baths, nail trims, anal gland expressions).
- Performing other duties as required to support the team and ensure excellent patient care.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in a veterinary setting is preferred.
- Certification or enrollment in an accredited veterinary assisting program is a plus.
- CVA (Certified Veterinary Assistant) is preferred, but hands-on experience is prioritized.
- Strong communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
- Compassion for animals and their owners is essential.
Part-time Work Schedule:
- 3 Weekdays: Arrival by 7:45 AM; estimated departure at 5:15 PM (1-hour break included).
- Rotating Saturdays: 7:45 AM – 1:15 PM

Our team knows the pets and their owners personally, making the experience as stress-free and loving as possible. We require all boarders to be up to date on vaccines and have a current negative fecal exam, ensuring a clean, healthy environment—especially important for our real grass backyard play area. Though we don’t offer full grooming services, we do provide brush-outs and baths by request. And because the boarding area is connected directly to the hospital, any medical needs or concerns are immediately addressed by our veterinary team.
