About This Role:Join our veterinary hospital as a full-timeVeterinary Assistant and become a teammate of our animal healthcare team! *This role requires working 4 days and you would be cross-training with the receptionists and assistants/technicians*
What Success Looks Like:Veterinary Assistant Duties:
Compassionate Care Provider: Handle, restrain, comfort, and reassure animals of all temperaments.
Medical Support Expert: Assist with treatments, diagnostics, and surgeries; monitor patients; maintain records.
Hospital Caretaker: Maintain cleanliness, organize facilities, and ensure a sanitary environment.
Communication Liaison: Relay patient updates and ensure care continuity among the team.
Client Educator: Communicate care plans, instruct home treatment to clients, and guide medication use.
Veterinary Receptionist Duties:
- Creating Exceptional First Impressions: You'll warmly greet clients and their pets, making them feel welcome and valued from the moment they contact our practice.
- Communication Excellence: You'll skillfully manage multi-line phone systems, gather and document important information accurately, and convey pet care instructions clearly and compassionately.
- Appointment Wizard: You'll masterfully schedule, confirm, and manage appointments while efficiently handling check-ins and check-outs with proper documentation.
- Team Coordination: You'll promptly alert appropriate departments when patients arrive, distribute daily schedules, and ensure patient files are properly prepared and updated.
- Professional Environment: You'll maintain an inviting, clean, and organized reception area that helps create a positive experience for clients and their pets.
- Having full-time and weekend availability
- Strong animal handling skills with the ability to safely restrain patients of all temperaments for examinations and procedures
- Experienced with medication administration (PO, SQ, IM, and IV) and vaccine administration
- Knowledge of prescription medications to effectively instruct clients with home care instructions
- Excellent attention to detail in monitoring patients and maintaining medical records
- Effective communication skills with team members and clients
- Providing a welcoming and professional first impression by greeting every client with efficiency and warmth
- Ability to multi-task and attend to multi-line phone systems and veterinary programs
- Efficiently optimize clinic workflow through strategic appointment scheduling and proactive confirmation calls
- Maintaining any required documents or medical records
- Accurately handle deposits and financial transactions from clients
- Accurately educate clients on veterinary services and best practices for animal care
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required
- Associate degree in veterinary technology or continuing education in veterinary science a plus
- At least three years of experience in an animal hospital completing the details listed above
- Proficient computer skills for maintaining electronic medical records
- Experience with veterinary programs, Cornerstone preferred
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology and protocols
- Manage cash handling and financial transactions
- Competitive Pay: $19.50 - $27.00 per hour, commensurate with experience
