Unified Vailsburg Services Organization is committed to providing a stable and compassionate community for children and families in Newark. We are seeking a dedicated Pre-K Teacher Assistant to help us deliver a high-quality educational experience to every 3- and 4-year-old child in our care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Lead Teacher in implementing engaging daily activities and lesson plans.

• Provide constant supervision to ensure all children are safe, both indoors and outdoors.

• Foster a positive learning environment through respectful communication and interaction with children at their level.

• Assist with daily routines, including meal preparation, toileting, hand-washing, and maintaining a clean, organized classroom.

• Build strong, collaborative relationships with parents, families, and colleagues.

• Participate in staff development, training, and key events like parent-teacher conferences.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• High School Diploma required; a CDA or Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred.

• Must be able to clear a background check (CARI and CH).

• Current First Aid/CPR certification and up-to-date health/TB screenings are required.

• Must register in the NJCCIS registry.

• Previous experience in an early childhood setting is a plus.

• The physical ability to lift children, stand for long periods, and sit on child-sized furniture.
