Job Title: Utility Worker
Location: Worcester, MA
Pay Rate: $20.00 per hour
Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM, Monday through Friday
Employment Type: Contract-to-Perm
Summary
The Utility Worker supports manufacturing operations by replenishing materials and packaging supplies, allowing machine operators to focus on production. This role ensures efficient movement of raw and finished materials and helps maintain proper inventory levels for uninterrupted workflow.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Previous experience in manufacturing or warehouse preferred
Forklift and pallet jack experience required
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and remain on feet for extended periods
Familiarity with inventory systems such as QAD is a plus
Key Responsibilities
Material Handling
Use forklift to transport raw materials (100–2500 lbs) from warehouse to production
Move finished products to staging or shipping areas
Weigh and dispose of scrap material as needed
Restock packaging materials (boxes, pallets, cores)
Assist with loading/unloading of trucks
Inventory & Equipment Use
Scan and track inventory using QAD system
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, core cutters, carousels, and hand tools
Support weekly cycle counts
Production & Team Support
Assist with machine changeovers and production transitions
Keep work areas clean and organized
Identify and report inventory or material discrepancies
Working Conditions
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling (up to 50 lbs)
Regular standing, walking, kneeling, and bending
Occasional ladder use
Work Environment
Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, heat, noise, and dust
PPE required: gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots
Supervision
Reports to shift supervisor
Works independently and as part of a team
Expected to follow instructions and meet deadlines with accuracy
